Johanna Maxl: Unser großes Album elektrischer Tage
The typographic cover for Johanna Maxl’s debut novel, with its fragmented narrative, captures the impulsive content. The holographic-shimmering words of the title are cast into an electrically charged mood. The author approached us with the request that the post-modern feminist book should ideally be designed to look like a fashion accessory, like a glittering clutch—an object you would always carry with you, because of its beauty. We thought the idea was excellent and set out to fulfil this goal—without kitsch! The abysmal, in this book as well, always seems to lie so close to the sweet and tender. Therefore, we contrasted the dark glossy book jacket, which envelops a dark matte cover with a soft pink endpaper. The inside of the lyrical novel is set in an idiosyncratic serif font. Black chapter pages run through the book like dark lightning.
